Meet Bryan

Hello. My name is Bryan Wells and I love Park County. My wife, Sally, and I raised our family on Emigrant Creek. I worked for the railroad as a youth and started several businesses during my 60+ years here. Now I’m the self-appointed mayor of Old Chico. I love where I live.

I believe that people should have a say in the decisions that affect them, like property rights, how they can make a living, and how to best protect the land they love. The best neighbors are the ones who can work together to solve problems.

I have seen neighbors with strongly opposed views talk through issues and reach agreement. I know that the best solutions come from diverse groups, and I trust the wisdom of our community.

Listening is more than hearing words; it’s understanding the pulse of our community. Your stories matter. I invite you to support me as we build Park County’s future together.

From the day in 1969 when he first discovered the debris high on Emigrant Peak, Bryan committed himself to honoring the four airmen who lost their lives there.

This remarkable 25-minute documentary tells the tragic story of the fallen B-47 airmen and the astonishing journey of the man whose unwavering determination led to an Act of Congress. Not only did Bryan’s commitment lead to the official memorialization of those who perished, it also built many enduring relationships and memories.
